Newborn Babies Pier Side – Welcome Home Daddy
Life on the homefront has many challenges. One that ranks #1 is having to give birth while your service member is at sea / deployed. When I try to wrap my brain around what that experience would be like, my brain starts to hurt. These women are so brave, courageous and truly an inspiration to us all. The next time you are in the commissary, exchange or soccer field and you notice the wife who is pregnant, I encourage you to reach out to her....offer a friendly ear, a warm hug and your support. We all need to remember we are ...

USS New Mexico on sea trials
USS New Mexico on sea trials I recently read about the USS New Mexico's sea trials over on Bubbleheads Blog and gosh how I LOVE seeing that NM flag flying in the sail. NM just in case you didn't guess is my home state. The commissioning date has finally been set and will be March 27, 2010. I am planning on attending and I'm so very excited! I have never been to a commissioning before and I can't wait. In my research of what to expect, I came across this video of the USS New Hampshire being commissioned. Even though New Mexico has two ...

A dear friend of mine, not to mention my favorite candle supplier, Deb Ragsdale is a Navy wife and, like many of us, has an Etsy. LilacAve has been around for a few years and she was gracious enough to let us in behind the scenes to learn how military wives, like herself, can take their Etsy shops on the road and host delightful house parties! Packing Out
So more than a few weeks ago we had the house packed out. Since we’d never done it before, we tried to prepare the best we knew how. We made sure to eat all of our perishables and use all of our cleaning supplies and such. We set aside what we needed to take with us like our air mattress, a small tv, sheets, towels, etc; Our plan was to make... [Read more of this review]

What happens when the PCS is over?
Why, you start doing one of two things (or a combination of both): (1) You bloom where you are planted; and/or (2) You start thinking of where the military will take you next. Me? Well, I’m doing both right now. I’m firmly settling in here, but not too firmly. I’ve got my sights set on where this super exciting journey through military... [Read more of this review]
Murphy’s Law…
I hate this Murphy guy, I swear I spend most days I am thinking to myself, TAKE YOUR LAW AND SHOVE IT! DH is gone, he’s not deployed, but I think Murphy doesn’t seem to know that. He’s gone at a school prior to our transfer to our next ship. ANYWAYS! As I work on cleaning up the kitchen, doing the dishes I hate, I find myself... [Read more of this review]

Book Review~Confessions of a Military Wife
As part of my participation with Navy Wife Radio I have received dozens of military life books. I recently read the book, Confessions of a Military Wife by Mollie Gross. Mollie is edgy, hilarious, and is very very honest. She doesn’t hold back, which is something I love. I hate dancing around topics and Mollie just doesn’t. Mollie... [Read more of this review]

It’s this week!
So, we just got back from our vacation. We spent two weeks at hubby’s parents. It was a lot of fun, and definitely went by way too fast. Seems like just yesterday we drove down there, but now we’re back home. It was needed… I was stressing way to much about the move, and hubby was stressing because of me. LOL When we left we had just... [Read more of this review]
Playing the Waiting Game
So last Friday our PPM/DITY turned into a full Navy Move/Partial PPM. We were able to use the move.mil web site, but only after a phone call and trip down to Jax (since after the first call they never picked up the phone again). They told us to just Log on and switch our move, but it’s not that easy. They had to cancel our previous move paperwork... [Read more of this review]
The movers are coming, the movers are coming.
So, it’s nothing like Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride forewarning of the British troop invasion in the 18th Century, but I do feel like I need to let everyone know—family and friends that is. They know we are packing up and moving out, but they don’t realize the intensity of it all. You know what I’m talking about. The cataloging of serial numbers,... [Read more of this review]
Our DITY/PPM
April 15, 2010 the Navy decided that the DITY or PPM is no longer an effective way for the Navy to ‘move’ it’s families; they have cut their member entitlements for the PPM. Also on the 15th they took down the PPM Claim Calculator and they switched from smartwebmove to move.mil, all with no news to the military families (at least I... [Read more of this review]
Feeling At Home Away From Home
It’s been 2.5 months since we got to our new duty station. In the past it has taken a good 6 months for me to feel “normal” again after a move. But as I was driving home from post the other day I realize I had hit the “normal” point here already. I am still not unpacked. I haven’t made a ton of friends yet.... [Read more of this review]
